China Unveils New Food Safety Regulatory Framework Across Full Supply Chain
On March 19, 2025, the Guidance on Further Strengthening Whole-Chain Food Safety Regulation was jointly issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council. The document outlines critical policy requirements directly relevant to third-party testing institutions, including:
- Enhancing coordinated supervision of edible agricultural products
- Expediting establishment of food storage supervision mechanisms
- Accelerating development of food transportation coordinated supervision mechanisms
- Strengthening oversight of emerging online food sales models
- Enhancing comprehensive supervision mechanisms for catering services
These measures demonstrate the nation’s resolve to implement end-to-end oversight of food safety across the entire supply chain - from farm to table (production, processing, storage, transportation, and sales).
